Welcome to the travels and adventures of Jesper and Susann!

Hi and welcome to this blog written by Jesper and Susann! As most of our time awake is dedicated to travelling (we think about, plan it and do it), we want to share our stories and experiences with the world. We are very happy if you send us an e-mail, comment, share, and/or like us on social media.

Jesper & Susann, The Biveros Effect

So, who are these people writing to you?

Susann is a Finn currently living in Sweden. She moved here in 2014 together with Jesper. They met while living and working in Slovakia (yes, that tiny country in Central Europe that people have trouble pointing out on a map), and they have been travelling together ever since. They are known for walking a lot on their trips and their friends and family often ask when they are going to rest. Maybe in the life after this one.

Susann has lived in several places around Europe but for the time being Stockholm feels like home. She works with books (oh, the delight!) and her free time she enjoys reading, foreign languages, eating and working out.

Jesper works in IT and he is usually the one who does all the planning before any trips these two wanderers embark on. He runs faster than Susann, and doesn’t read nearly as much chic lit. He sometimes agrees to trying out her kitchen experiments, though. Despite the dangers in the kitchen, he is still alive.

An addition to our travel company was born in 2017. Our daughter, who we will call Little A here on the blog, is joining us on most of our trips and it is our delight to show her the world.

Their greatest passion, however, is travelling and that’s the main focus of this blog. Jesper takes the photos, Susann writes. And yes, sometimes Jesper writes too. They ask you to be kind on them and apologise for any spelling mistake.

We’re glad you’re here – we hope that you will enjoy our stories! And don’t forget to leave a comment ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Jesper

      Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

India is at least on my list, but it is so huge that we currently do not have enough time to actually make a proper visit of the country. One day I hope that we will and I guess that I will just need to add some limits to all the sights I want to see. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Chez @ Chez Moi

  18. katharynhok

Wow, great blog. We are planning a trip along the Rhine and toward Quedlinburg and we appreciate your insights! Your blog was so interesting, I am about to post the first thing I’ve ever posted online. It seems from the type of travel you do, you’d really enjoy a little town in Crete called Palaiochora. In the evening, they close the main street and the small restaurants serve dinner outside. We hiked down the nearby Samaria Gorge and were taken with the history, scenery, and escape from beach and small town life. Maybe you’ve been there already but if not, I hope you enjoy it some day. – Mike

Hi! I’d like to follow your blog but I don’t see a follow button on the bottom right that I usually see with WordPress blogs. Am I missing it? I see you have a follow option but prefer to see followed blogs in my WordPress reader rather than email. Thanks.

    1. Jesper

Thank you for letting us know Caroline, we will have a look at it. As we are hosting the blog ourselves, then there are no standardized version of the wordpress follow button. We will, however, try to add it. Until then, you can find the follow button on the wordpress site: https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/105739458 ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Jeric Urbayo

Hey there, Jasper and Sussan! I love reading your blog. You guys are real bloggers. I like the way you express yourselves through travelling. Keep it up!

Thank you for the kind words Jeric ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. leightontravels

Impressive list of countries. You have a wonderful blog and I’m looking forward to reading your posts.

  22. Loreeebee

wow, that is an impressive list! Just retired, my husband and I had hoped to spend more time travelling, but then the pandemic hit the world. Hopefully we will get too soon. At the top of our list are many of the countries you have listed. Have never been to your side of the world. From Canada, we have only been to the USA, most of Canada (it is a huge country, like lots of little countries elsewhere) several spots in the Caribbean, and Hawaii

    1. Jesper

We share your wish and hope that we will soon be back traveling. I’m sure that you will enjoy Europe once you get here, which places are on top of your wish list? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Jesper

Thank you Cheryl, but there is still so much more to explore. Happy travels ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Jesper

Thank you June, we really enjoyed Montrรฉal and hope to return one day. We have a lot more to explore, both in Montrรฉal and in Canada. ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. maristravels

A lovely blog and I’m glad to have found you. I love Scandinavia, especially Sweden, but I’ve yet to visit Finland. I will though, it’s on my list. This year though, has taken such a large chunk out of our lives that playing catch-up next year will be difficult. My first trip will be to Italy to catch up on the warmth of the people and the warmth of the sunshine, the lovely food (Rome during artichoke time, especially) and just to be immerse in ancient history without having to visit museums. Good luck on your travels.

  24. Nadia Bourgeois

Bravo pour tous ces voyages et merci pour le partage de vos expรฉriences ! Bonnes fรชtes ! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Jesper

We hope that you too have some great end-of-the-year holidays. Always a pleasure to provide inspiration ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Harbans

Thanks sharing your thoughts. WISH YOU HAPPY NEW YEAR. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

    1. Jesper

      Hello Daniel,
Jansson’s frestelse is for sure something typical Swedish that I don’t believe many from abroad even have heard about. I’m happy to hear that you like it, myself I prefer my sprat fried and then put on a piece of knรคckebrรถd. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Jesper

I see the rivalry in ice hockey more like a confirmation of similarities, more like the fight among siblings. We have a small brother in the east and a bigger brother in the west. ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. JanBeek

Wow, that’s a lot of traveling! I look forward to exploring your past adventures and learning from your trips. Thank you for visiting JanBeek and leaving your calling card so I could find you. Interesting that you two “met while living and working in Slovakia” because just two years ago we visited Slovenia for the first time (is that the same as Slovakia? You and Susann seem to share a lot of the same interests – and have a marvelous way of sharing them with your readers. Thank you for this blog. I will enjoy perusing it, I am sure. <3 I'll be back!

    1. Jesper

Thank you for your kind words. No matter how much we travel, our wish list is just growing. It really gets addictive. ๐Ÿ™‚

Slovakia and Slovenia is actually two different countries, but often mixed up. We worked and lived in Slovakia, but have also visited Slovenia. Both are in many ways amazing countries to visit. Where did you go in Slovenia? We have been to the capital Ljubljana and the coastal town Piran. ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Luciana Rubio

I don’t speak English very well, I speak Espaรฑol and live in Mรฉxico City, but I like your story very much.

    1. Jesper

Muchas gracias Luciana and hope that you have a nice day in Mรฉxico City. Thank you for your kind words and we hope that we will be able to keep the story interesting for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. Corna Wiese

We’ve enjoyed your posts about your visit to South Africa – our home country – very interesting (and accurate ๐Ÿ˜Š). Thanks for reminding us that we are living in a beautiful country! We are looking forward reading more of all the places you’ve visited over the years ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

    1. Jesper

Hello Corna and thank you for your kind words. ๐Ÿ™‚

South Africa really is an amazing country and we were just able to see parts of it. There are a lot more for us to explore and we can just hope that we will be able to do so one day. In addition to exploring new places in the country, a return to Cape Town is high up on our wish list.

We hope that our posts are able to inspire more exploration of the world. Our readers views are much appreciated, so feel free to let us know your thoughts about the places we write about.

Happy Travels and Take Care ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. Ria

Good day to you..you are living my dream. I will surely follow you for I will never be able to live my passion like you do.

  30. A Dude Abikes

Thank you for your visit to my blog. I have read some Swedish books (starting with yes, the Dragon Tattoo books), and it sounds like a lovely place. However, being from Texas, and no travel budget now, I don’t think I would survive the cold! Best wishes on your travels!

  31. Catherine

It’s great to visit all these countries. All the best.

  32. spwilcen

Your site content is interesting though I cannot do much traveling any more. You will do that for me. I find your blog especially delightful (from what I’ve seen) for your humor. I seriously enjoy humor (if you see my little play with words you see) and working with words. I will follow your work, and will take this opportunity to caution you as I see you have followed me. Please note this curmudgeonly old gent can be a bit ribald and sarcastic at times and always not quite polite. Also, I have reverted to only weekly blogs; the bulk of my work is original fiction buried off the home page under “Writing.” Jesper, when you need a break from the “chick lit” lying about wherever you currently are, you might find a moment’s diversion in my work. Ms. Susann, I can offer you not much except the occasional poemetry. Good day to you both!

  33. South of Watford

Great to read the stories about your travels, especially to those small towns that don’t readily feature on the popular tourist trails – but you haven’t been to Norway yet? It doesn’t strike me as being that dangerous, surely! Keep on travelling, keep on writing xx

    1. Jesper

Thank you for the nice words, it is a pleasure to inspire others to see the less known areas of the world. ๐Ÿ™‚
We have been on short trips to Norway in the past, but that was several years ago and prior to us meeting eachother. We have several times looked on new trips to Norway, but it always turns out to be several times more expensive and time consuming than other destinations much further away. We will see what happens once the borders open up again after this pandemic. ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Fergy.

Hello there folks and thank you so much for following my blog, however you found it.

For some reason my wordpress log-in is not working so I have had to log in via e-mail. We seem to have a lot in common as I love both Sweden and Finland (and Slovakia!), I have played gigs on all three countries. Looking at your travel map it seems we have a lot in common as I have visited many of the countries you have so it will be good to compare notes.

Tack and Kiitos, which is about as much of your respective languages as I can remember.

    Fergy.

    1. Jesper

It is always interesting to read about how others have experienced the places you like. It is easy to end up in your own bubble when traveling, reading other’s stories can complement both your own experiences and put them into perspective. That is the reason for why it is always a delight to find other travel bloggers to either follow or to exchange experiences with. Let us know in case you want to discuss traveling experiences with us. ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. Gail L McKenna

Very impressed by all the places you’ve been although you seem so young!

  36. Clare Pooley

I have enjoyed reading your informative and amusing blog. Thank you very much for visiting my blog and for the follow.

  38. Shreyosi Kanta

Hi. Fellow blogger who also likes to travel. I hope you will travel to India too once tourism opens up. Your list of countries is impressive. Bon voyage!

    1. Jesper

India is high up on the wish list and we really hope to go there one day. It just requires a bit more planning than other countries due to its size. Which regions would you recommend? ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. you are a great couple, you have a beautiful life, I wish you success and happiness in further endeavors, a beautiful blog, best regards ๐Ÿ˜š

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and great to be in touch !

I am addicted to travel and photography but my travels have bee mostly confined to India so far.

I am part of an organization which promotes thoughtful and sustainable travel and help people explore this vast and diverse nation, India.

But, this is one place, where I meet and interact with some amazing people and get inspired by their stories.

Hope to read more on your travels here and be safe …

You are certainly a well travelled family! Maybe one day you can try for Australia.

    1. Jesper

Have heard so much nice about Australia from my sister who visited a few years back. Hopefully, we will be able to go one day. Which areas would you recommend the most?

  42. Rudi G. Aswan

Excited to find this blog. Sweden reminds me of my youngest son who loves Scania a lot. It is a wonderful list you’ve created. Indonesia should be included in your following itinerary. Keep on gallivanting around the globe!

  43. Wind Kisses

You have done an amazing job at documenting your travels and making it fun. I loved looking back at Spain, as I too lived there for a few years. I love that you guys do your blog together. donna
